Maine Ski Resorts

Bigrock Mountain

Located near the border between Maine and Canada, Bigrock Mountain offers 35 trails and glades in a mostly vertical format. With a 980 foot vertical, expert skiers can shoot down Uncle Bud’s trail from the peak and end up at the base in no time at all. Three lifts service Bigrock, although only one triple lift goes up to the peak. The other two service the beginners’ areas. In total, Bigrock offers 14 intermediate runs, 10 expert, 5 novice, and one terrain park. About half of the runs are opened up for night skiing.

Black Mountain

Of the major ski areas, Black Mountain is one of the smaller Maine ski resorts. It offers 35 trails spread out over a 1380 foot vertical, all of which is lit for night skiing. The Androscoggin Trail allows you to experience every foot of that drop as you coast into the lodge. For glade lovers, there are five separate glades scattered around the mountain, allowing you to let the trees zip by. There are two primary lifts that service the main peak, while three others lead to a novice area and a renovated terrain park.

Camden Snow Bowl

Located on the southeastern side of the state, the Snow Bowl is among the most popular Maine ski resorts. While the Bowl is most famous for the US Toboggan Championships in February, the 23 trails and two terrain parks draw skiers from all over. Saddleback

Saddleback is home to the famous Kennebago Steeps, a series of single and double black diamond runs. The Steeps are 12 trails and glades that to straight down the mountain and don’t cross any lower difficulty trails, so expert skiers can go as fast as they need to. The Steeps are serviced by a quad chair lift that ferries skiers to the peak in no time at all. For skiers who aren’t ready for the Steeps, there are 43 other trails ready and waiting, serviced by two double chair lifts, another quad, and a T-Bar.
