Black Mountain Ski Resort
Black Mountain Ski Resort is located in the heart of Rumford, famous for its Nordic skiing area. Rumford not only has great skiing, but they offer great dining as well. Brian’s Bistro offers upscale foods at an affordable price. The restaurant is owned and operated by professionally trained chef, Brian Nichols, offering a menu that is inspired from Italy.
The River Valley Grill features a menu filled with American cuisine, everything from burgers to seafood. They serve breakfast as well, so you can eat hearty before a fun-filled day.
Gatch’s Food & Spirits is a family-friendly establishment serving American cuisine, along with Italian dishes and Mexican foods. In addition, they also feature a menu complete with burgers, seafood and vegetarian dishes.
Things to do Around the Resort
In addition to the skiing you can do at Black Mountain, you can also enjoy tubing down some awesome slopes at The Edge Tubing Park.
Cross country skiing is also available. The trails for cross country skiing were designed by Chummy Broomhall, who was born in Maine. Broomhall competed in the 1948 Winter Olympics and the 1952 Winter Olympics. He was also part of the United States Ski Team from 1947 to 1954 and is part of the National Ski Hall of Fame, being inducted in 1981.
Black Mountain offers racing programs that are coached by some extremely skilled and highly experienced skiers. The Mountain Kids Program is for kids ages 8 to 11 and the Black & Blue Gate Smashers is for kids ages 12 to 18.
